Green sea turtle
Write by: GSIEDA Data: Jan/06/2022
The green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), also known as the green turtle, black (sea) turtle, or Pacific green turtle, is a species of large sea turtle of the family Cheloniidae. It is the only species in the genus Chelonia. C. mydas(Chelonia mydas) is listed as endangered by the IUCN and CITES and is protected from exploitation in most countries. It is illegal to collect, harm, or kill them. (cite from Wikipedia)
The main factors that make green sea turtles an endangered species are the destruction of their spawning grounds, improper coastal development, and the setting of shore lights will reduce the number of green turtles. In addition, One of the main food sources of green sea turtles is jellyfish. Because the ocean is seriously polluted by garbage, it is easy for green sea turtles to misjudge plastic as jellyfish and cause green sea turtles to eat and die. Therefore, the problem of marine garbage is also serious in affecting the ecological environment of green sea turtles. On the issue of green turtles, GSIEDA's POP art is to convey that the problem of marine garbage pollution has become the fourth main reason for reducing green sea turtles. So let the essence of the problem show it, then solve the real marine garbage pollution problem and give green turtles a healthy living environment. (Reference from National Geographic Magazine)
