Why Zero By Design
In order to protect the Earth and the environment, the United Nations has developed the SDGs, a plan consisting of 17 sustainable development goals, with a target to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. California became the first to legislate in the field of building construction, implementing a residential Zero Energy Bill in 2020 and a commercial Zero Energy Bill in 2030. The International Code Council also launched a Zero Energy Building Code in 2021. By observing the trend of international legislation, it is clear that energy laws have taken priority. In the future, precious resources such as water and materials will need to be conserved to achieve sustainable environmental improvement, leading both new and existing enterprises toward the ultimate goal of reducing carbon emissions by 50% from 20% in 2023, and reaching the United Nations' ZERO CARBON net-zero emissions goal by 2050.

Training Lab
In order to assist competitors in understanding the ZERO CARBON emissions goal as quickly as possible and to apply and practice it during the architectural competition, the educational partners will collaborate with a team of consultants to provide a series of educational training courses and labs. These will aid participants in addressing any areas where assistance is needed, ensuring a smooth and successful completion of the competition.
